'swot happens when councils refuse to adopt roads and provide services
The history of Jaywick is fascinating.
It is part of the post war plotlands movement. Many Londoners self-built houses (really self built! no professionals) on plots of land in the countryside acquired cheaply with lax planning permission. The plotlands movement is well worth reading about for anybody with an interest in housing.
In the case of Jaywick, most homes are single skin brick, intended only as summer holiday homes. The place didn't even have mains sewage until comparatively recently.
Of course, rather than discuss the fascinating history of the place, and real reasons for such poor housing being used year-round, the Daily Fail choose to publish a "let's laugh at the poor people" article about the place.

Daily Mail readers?
Can you make sense of the Daily Mail’s effort to classify every inanimate object into those that cause cancer and those that prevent it ?0 -

Pic 8 is like looking at a piece of modern artwork in a gallery lol.
I agree with phoebe1989seb, I don't normally like modern interiors in old properties but this one is stunning.
Amazed too that the owners of a £1,350,000 house couldn't afford to get someone to take some better photos. These are awful, some not even in focus! Unless they are trying out a 'teaser' style marketing ploy??0 -
