  • I loved those flats! Legoland and Castlefields were really well designed properties but the modernist ideal didn't work in reality! I think of Southgate every year when the Stirling prize is announced and it always makes me laugh.

We used to walk through Southgate with school to go to the library at the Shoppo :) I also lived on Castlefields twice, don't remember much about the house we had as a kid but my flat was nice (also no longer there)

Yep, it's a bit mad when you consider the other stuff James Stirling designed...Stuttgart, London, Runcorn :)

It's always a worry when a really cheap house has a burglar alarm.

Why? It's not protecting the bricks and mortar, but the things inside. Do you think that people who don't live in expensive houses value their belongings less than rich people?
What matters most is how well you walk through the fire

I really think we need to check what areas we have covered on here :) I am sure we have most of the country covered, but what if there is some part of the country where there are truly awful houses we havent yet discovered :D:idea::idea: I don't see many West Midlands houses here - they must all be perfect ....

See, its all gone quiet now - are you all busy looking up houses in Birmingham-I am and having no success so far. Their idea appears to be if it is awful, don't take a photo. How rude!!

I think you are all mistaken about this house. I think it has a huge luxury swimming pool in the back garden - see, they used the left over tiles for the fire place surround :D
