Our house was designed 1939, but built 1946. Or at least completed 1946.
Hitler? It had a bell indicator in a polished wood case. In fact I still have it in a cupboard. I keep wondering what to do with it.
Wire it up to the front door bell, obviously.
Or at least have it on display somewhere.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Yes, I’m sure the war stopped building work.
And, I am wondering whether to stick the bell thingy back in the kitchen. Then, my wife can use it for calling me.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Aside from parking a motorbike more easily perhaps can anyone tell me the point of mentioning a "dropped kerb with hardstanding" if the space is clearly too small for a car?

Half a million for a 2 bed terrace, no 2nd WC, dubious off road parking??If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0 -

A few places around where I live have this, people park their cars sideways in front of the house. And tend to have more compact cars...

Welcome to the London property market.
Pretty common asking prices for modest terraces (with no off road parking at all) in that part of London/Essex borders, and Waltham Forest next borough inward, where I am. Possibly overpriced but pre xmas/Brexit, market is pretty subdued.
Previous sold on that road is 480k: which is likely a more realistic selling price
but as we know, it is "worth" what someone is willing to pay at the time.
What would concern me is the "garden backed onto playing fields".
Not sure for security or noise levels , as there isn't a lot of tree cover, I would be keen on that.0 -

Hmmm. I'm not a driver but I suppose with the one I posted, it might
just about be possible with a very very compact car.
Does somewhat limit your options though.
I suppose if you weren't already parked on your own dropped kerb and only parked there, it would at least deter others from taking that space.0 -

That’s why we’re moving from Hertfordshire to Lincolnshire property is so much cheaper0 -

The house I moved into as a teenager had servant bells. My father reversed the wiring so my mum could call us all to the kitchen for meals.Love living in a village in the country side0
