I used to know someone who lived in a house like this, but bizarrely the pond was 1 foot inside the house and rest was in the garden... so in theory a burglar could swim through the pond into the house. Very strange!

I cannot find words sufficient to describe just how much I hate that cladding. I'm with Money on this one - total rip out job.

It's not cladding; the correct description is tongue and groove matchboarding, which is still quite a popular choice in some circumstances, when it's usually painted.



But there's so much of it in that place, painting wouldn't really solve the problem of the house looking like it's a shed.
