Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.0

I think they have taken open-plan a little too far
My 1st thought was, how refreshing, something other than a 60" TV screen as a focal point:)At least you don't have to get up to check how the cake you're baking is getting along.
..........
My 2nd was, pity there isn't room for a washing machine so they could watch that when the novelty of the cake baking wore off:rotfl:0 -
Sorry, it wasn't personal against you, it is just that yours was the latest in a long line of "you can get [insert mansion here] where I live for that money" and it always grates with me.I think you might be overthinking what I said, StumpyPumpy. I understand things cost more in other places, I'm just shocked by the difference sometimes. I respond the same way to the current price of a Freddo.
It's probably that I moved south because of work and have spent the last 25 or so years listening to various relatives and friends going on and on and on about what sort of house I could buy with the salary I'm on, if only I'd move back up north. They seemed completely oblivious to the fact that if I did move I would no longer be able to command the salary I would need to pay for the houses they thought I could buy or indeed get a job at all in my field (highly technical and specialised).
The irony is that since quitting my job and buying a much bigger place "up north" rather than shutting up, it is now all "but where are you going to get a job doing what you do, up here? There's no call for it: you need to be in London where the big bucks are, otherwise you'll lose your house." The truth is that I won't lose the house because it isn't mortgaged and I won't find a job because I'm not looking for one.
Within 20 miles of my postcode Rightmove has a 4 bed detached in an acre of gardens for £175k but only a tiny percentage of people in the area would be able to afford the mortgage repayments. With incomers like me (well returners) buying the more expensive properties and pushing the prices up I think there are probably less affordable houses in this area than in my old one. In absolute terms housing is much cheaper here, but in relative terms it is actually very similar.

Loo is in the cupboard structure in the middle of the studio.
That's an apartment style with a lot going for it. It's designed to make the most of a tiny floorspace and aimed at singles who want to live in a city centre. There needs to be a lot more thinking like this if we're to house everybody who wants to live in city centres. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

Then again, after too many meals like that they'd never fit in that kitchen. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
