It's to show how many lodgers you can fit in the flat to help make it affordable.

It's to demonstrate it's a middle-class area. If you're looking for kebab shops or cash converters you'll look elsewhere.

Could have been worse. They could have put the microwave on the cooker and the 2 ring hob on the chair.
