My DD lived around the corner from there. It was hardly the Bronx!
I recall that she had a good crop of mushrooms on the skirting board at that place, though it was chosen mainly because it offered particularly good facilities for her ferret. :rotfl:0 -

OH said he used to drive the switchback road (Herbert Ave?) to & from work each day. The odour from the Ryvita factory not far away is still with him in spirit
He insists that the whole area from Lychett to New Milton & up to Verwood is just one giant sprawl with pretentious names, & thus should have one name only: Basingstoke-on-Sea was his suggestion years ago. These days that is probably unfair to Basingstoke.
Me? I quite liked Wareham when he took me to Cottee's auction room in the noughties.0 -

Pic5 rhs of the window reveal: What is the purpose of the large knob?[/QUOTE]
It's not what I would call a knob. It's a decoration - a bit like a Christmas tree bauble. You can just see the thread from which it is suspended. There's a differently shaped, lighter colour, object on the other side of the window too.0 -

its an American property therefore it stands to reason it must be related somehow to either guns or rednecks. Personally I favour it being the kitchen sink panic button which sets off the tracking device in the garden linked to the machine gun in the attic0 -

Southill Road is pretty switchback:

Had to do a removal from half way down there in the snow. :eek:Yeah, and how often does Poole have snow?0 -

Alder Road was the switchback one, very hilly and used to be very straight. The rotters have put in a roundabout, traffic lights and a bendy bit to slow down perfectly responsible drivers like myself.
The Ryvita factory is still there! I met the guy once who invented the Ryvita machine - the stuff isn't cooked in an oven, it is adiabatically compressed which heats the dough enough to cook it.0
