If you look at the house carefully, you'll see that the important bits are raised above ground level. Perhaps not so for the workers' cottages though!
I suppose the sound of the weir would drown out the fairly strong traffic noise there. As for the fishing.... I've done some not far downstream and I don't rate it!;)0 -
