It's a beautiful house phoebeseb. Absolutely stunning. I can definitely see why you are well placed to comment on this thread! I'm just wondering where you live now after trading up from there. I'm imagining a small castle...

Thank you vivatifosi, you're very kind :D

Small castle - I wish, lol! In fact there's one not far from us that would do very nicely ;) No, we traded down - DH (rightly) thought we didn't need all that space - and are currently restoring a much smaller Georgian village house.......although we've already extended it to house the *stuff* we can't bear to part with and keep adding to

I had relatives living on this road until last year, so I know it isn't somewhere normally associated with grand pretensions or designs.

I really don't know what to say. Perhaps something like 'Man discovers architectural salvage fetish after dazzling experience on the road to B&Q'

You certainly seem to get a lot of house for your money!!

Quick look at Street View..Couldn't see it.

Quick look at Wikipedia entry. Errr...would "former coal-mining town" translate into "...and there aren't many replacement jobs since the pit shut?" Is that it?

It's there, on the junction with Heol Tir-Y-Parc, but not tarted-up at that stage. Whoever it was had a ball, which is fine if they'd stayed there, but they'll probably not see their money back.

Being as diplomatic as I can, the area isn't.. er.... terribly attractive, but it's close to a lot of attractive scenery. For that reason, it's Llandeilo up the road that has attracted all the arty types. The surrounding countryside has many horsey properties, due to the proximity of the M4 at Pont Abraham.

Basically, there's a lot to choose from near here, without buying somewhere slap on the road like that. An insane number of self-build execootive properties were built until 2007, so there is certainly value to be had if all someone wants is maximum bang for their buck....

I will say no more! :o

What an impressive property and, superficially at least, a real bargain.

Photo 14 - what on earth is on the floor!

The grotty bathroom is quite a contrast to the lounge and kitchen (neither to my taste, but appear cleaner than the rest of the house!)
