You must make sure that all numbers and contact details are saved to your phone memory, otherwise if they are saved to the sim card, they won't be transferred.
They will still be saved on your sim, so you can always put the old sim back in.
Try this: Go to Phone Book, then Copy, From SIM card to phone, All.
This is on the Nokia 3310i, so it shouldn't be too different, and the phone memory should be much bigger than most sim cards anyway.
Try this website to unlock your phone, as far as I can tell it is FREE. Most will charge you £5 or make you call a premium rate phoneline at £1.50 min.

a quick question about unlocking phones. My FIL needs a cheap basic mobile, his old Motorola has just died on him after 7 years faithful service. He wants to keep his number so and he's asked me to look for a new phone for him. I've noticed that all the Orange PAYG mobiles are around £20 more expensive than exactly the same model on different networks. I've found a basic Nokia 1110 on tesco mobile for less than £30 which would suit him down to the ground.
I've not had a lot of experience unlocking phones, so I'm not sure if the fact it 's locked to a network other than the big ones will cause problems unlocking it. Has anyone had any experiences unlocking phones from tesco mobile?0 -
hi looby
the phone is locked in its software only , so unlocking it from any network will not harm the phone in any way, just sets it to allow any sim to be used.
tesco mobile is just O2 rebadged,0 -
fantastic, thanks for that I'll go ahead and order one for my FIL

Can anyone confirm:
That I can transfer my Pay Monthly number, from another network, to free sim payg?
Whether this has to be done in a certain period after receiving the sim?
If there are any catches later transferring the number again ?
Thanks!0
