  • Some lenders re-calculate your interest when you overpay so it will be the interest from your last payment
    Jan 2010 - Overdraft £9,500 / Credit Cards £5,000 / Loan £9,500 / Mortgage £128,000
    Jun 2010 - Overdraft £0 / Credit Card £0 / Loan £0 / Mortgage £125,250
    Oct 2011 - Overdraft £7,000  / Mortgage £115,295
    Dec 2014 - Overdrafts 15,000 / Credit Cards 16,000 / Loans 25,000 / Cars 18,000 / Mortgages 232,500

well mortgage has gone down a bit with overpaying its addictive like you all say. not much really happening bought a few bits for the house and a dryer for the winter which was in the sale I know that i'll only use it in the winter as conservatory is pretty warm most of the year so seems to dry quicker in there than on the line plus if planning on having a little one i'm guessing i'm going to need one. been doing these one poll surveys as well so little bit extra all helps

oh forgot that I bought the dryer via Quidco so another £5 coming from that so that will be £80 in total to come from them to go into paying mortgage. OH annoying me a little came over the other day without telling me had no food in as there's only been me I haven't bought anything in apart from dog food for the dog. So I had to go to the supermarket late in the evening as he had been there all day while I was at work and hadn't bought anything to which I realised that later he has only 85p in the bank. He stayed a couple of days which annoyed me as it's like he knows I feel horrid about the situation so plays on it  like.
when he did go back to his parents he was complaining that he had to bike it back and how it would be much easier on the train (sounds like he was hinting at me footing the bill for a train ticket) I tried to ignore it as much as possible but did make me mad that he was trying to I just kept thinking to myself look you invited yourself I didn't. Also heard from him today about a job interview next week and how he doesn't think he can afford to go as it's miles away I said to him weeks ago have a look on the internet check out cheap train fares and hotels and now he leaves it till now and hints at me again.

:o I sound horrid and know I should be more supportive so why do I feel angry to the point that I feel we wouldn't have progressed to living together if I hadn't got rid of my debts and saved up for the deposit for the house. I feel like I'm the one who has to justify how I spend my money to him when I'm pretty much keeping him or was until I sent him to his parents.

    sorry for the rant

I think you need to have a long think about the OH, why should you be footing his bills? I would also worry, long term, that he would have a claim to part of your house if he moved back in, therefore you could be getting towards mortgage free in a few years then have to give him half!

You've posted that he is annoying you etc, are there any good points to help outweigh this, or do you need to find someone else who appreciates you for other things than free train fare and rent free living?!

Listen carefully to what fudge7000 is saying. Your OH doesn't sound as though he's had his LBM yet, and just wants to benefit from your financial responsibility without developing his own. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but we don't want to see you keep getting hurt.

thirding what the others have said .... he really is starting to take liberites with your kindness ... think about it this way ... if you wernt there how would he manage ? who would be footing his bills then? who would he be hinting to for train tickets etc ? is he generally a user of others? do you want a user like this in your life forever ? yes it is hard when you have lost your job no one is saying it isnt ... but that doesnt mean others have to be punished for it ( like he is punishing you with taking your food making you feel guilty etc)
  • Sounds like your OH is onto a good deal with you - and you have to decide where you're going with him. Surely you could give him some short term targets - such as getting his CV in order by this Tuesday; To have his CV sent off to three agents by Friday? They should be really easy to do...
And as he's skint I imagine he'll be looking to save money so he could well get stuck into this with relish...
