Advice - to text or not to text?

Two first loves reunited after 20 years.
Even though we live/work 150 miles apart and only see each other once every two weeks (he's a chef, gets two days off a week and spends alternate weeks with his daughter and me). Things were going great. We agreed (yes, very corny) that it was meant to be and we were in it for the long haul. It felt like we hadn't not been together those 20 years (told you it was corny!)
Daily texts or phone calls since we got back together. However, he took his daughter away on holiday last Monday and I haven't heard from him since!
I text him twice when he was away. Nothing heavy. Just asking if he was having a nice break and the other, last night, asking if he had made it home safely. Both ignored.
Now, I'm not daft! I can take a hint. However, I've had so many people making excuses – he's lost his phone, he's forgotten his charger, he's with his daughter he'll text when he gets back, he's deleted your number by mistake, something must have happened to him........etc. Am I right to condemn him when I don't know what's happened?
I think I'm more disappointed that he feels he can't tell me he doesn't want to see me more than the fact that he obviously doesn't want to see me! It's not as if we'll bump into each other in the street. I'd rather get dumped by text than not know what's happened. Or should I just let it go?
Does anybody have any suggestions? Text or not to text?

Never look down on anybody unless you are helping them up.

No, don't text. You've texted twice, if he wants to get in touch, he will.0

When did you expect him to get home from his holiday? Does he have your landline number and home address - because if he does, the "he's lost his phone" excuse doesn't wash.
If you don't think he's home from his holidays yet, I wouldn't text him. If you do think he's supposed to be home, I'd call him (not text) and ask how he's doing etc. Texts can be ignored. You are both too old to be playing games, in my opinion.0 -
Has he gone abroad on holiday/ If he has, sometimes texts don't get through. I've been accused of ignoring texts when I've been abroad when I thought the other person was ignoring me!
But my phone is quite an old one, don't know if that happens with the more modern ones.
How old is his daughter?
Whatever the reason, if he doesn't want to see you again and IS ignoring you, you're better off out of it.0 -
I'm sure he said he would get home yesterday.
He doesn't have my landline but knows where I live - although, I'm not sure he'd be able to tell me the exact address if asked!
I had thought about phoning as it would be confirmation one way or the other. Just think I'm putting it off in case he does!Never look down on anybody unless you are helping them up.0 -
How long have you been back together? Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

He went to visit his family down south - so not quite out of range!
His daughter is 11. He was waiting on the right moment to tell her about me.Never look down on anybody unless you are helping them up.0 -
Don't text. Leave the next move to him.Try to be a rainbow in someone's cloud.0

Only 4 months but (corny again) it felt right - even by his admission!
Hmmm I'd call him. If he's not been out of the country or lost his phone then he should have been in touch by now.
Have you got his landline number?
If it's 'meant to be' then what's the point of waiting? And if it does turn out that it was not meant to be, then you can get on with your life. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!
