I realize now that I've been a complete numpty - I stupidly thought that I was buying peace of mind and that I would be able to change or get a refund on the booking! It's my age! And the fact that I've been married 25 years LOL!!!!! I will just have to pray that trip advisors is wrong and that it isn't a grungy hole!!! I will let you know in October!

    Cheers

It did say when I booked my sale rooms that I would be unable to change any details, seems a bit strange really, but never mind. The travelodge I booked for October has good/bad reviews, the ones that are bad, say very bad, but I'm just hoping it's not too bad. After all, I guess it's just a place to rest your head. I shal find out too. I also paid that 1.50 insurance.

You may have misjudged the insurance but you are no "numpty".

A lot of men would be very happy with a partner who is prepared to take a punt at a budget hotel instead of demanding the Ritz.

    Happy anniversary.

Firstly, the insurance will not cover you for change of mind. However that doesn't make it invalid, just not helpful to your circumstances. It is for injury or worse to you/your travel companions which will force the trip to be cancelled.

Secondly, I have stayed at Plymouth, Roborough (Devon). Roborough is a perfectly acceptable travelodge, we stayed following a Wedding nearby and it was cheaper than a taxi home. Roborough is on the moor side of Plymouth and although on a large road, it's fairly quiet compared to city centre locations. You are almost right opposite the park and ride too. The travelodge was actually called Innkeepers when we stayed, but was extremely clean and had helpful staff. IIRC we had a buffet breakfast in the pub next door (the George) which in the past year has been refurbished itself.

As for Saltash, it's not far from where I live. I haven't stayed there but know of friends family who have. It is behind a service station, although it's not quite like service stations up the line! It's right off the A38 in Saltash, Cornwall and it has a petrol station and mini service station. There is a Waitrose across the road (not 24 hours). You will need your car to go anywhere from here, but you are in the gateway to Cornwall.

Don't worry about trip advisor, just plan on having a damm good time. You won't like it one bit if you go with the attitude that you won't like it, so go with the intention of having a great time and you will.

    Hope that helps.

Because whoever buys them is likely to treat the rooms with the utmost respect so there isn't a chance that you'll end up financially liable when the rooms are trashed.....Brave choice.

They bought the tickets and I get a record of that with their address, etc paid for by Card via Paypal.

I'm no more than an Agent.

It's what I did anyway - carry on with your course of action if that's your comfort zone.
