i agree what can we do about this though0

Maybe if enough people complain, Head Office will send out a memo or something advising store managers to stop it. Quite apart from lost sales and harm to their public image, it's also unfair on their own staff who have to deal with disappointed kids, irate parents etc.0

Having worked and run the entertainment department at branch level at woolworths, this used to come up time and time again. The cases are dummy ones to make the display look nice, and also the record/games companies pay woolworths to advertise them, so of course, they don't want their advert off the shelves,we even came up with the suggestion of printing "TEMPORARILY OUT OF STOCK" on bright green illumimous paper, and putting them inside the case so it shows, but we still got dozy people bringing them up to the counter, and even when we took off the display boxes, you used to get rude people pushing in the queue on the premise of wanting to find out if you had the stock behind the counter, most annoying as most of the time I was in the middle of serving customers who had queued up and waited their turn.
Also, it takes time taking the dummy stock off the shelves, a serving member of staff has to stop serving customers and take them off display when the last item is sold, hence why theres always a queue and the assistant looks like she/he is ignoring you, despite just serving the customer in front of you.
If this had happened when you queued up i would have apologised and asked if you wanted any of the games we did have in stock so you would not have to queue again. I'm sorry you had a bad experience there, but the staff are under alot of pressure to put out stock they get in everyday on replenished stock, plus they have to count stock to reorder it, its not always done by till replenishment, then theres price changes which have to be done and if any slip through the net you are personally accountable for it and end up getting a disciplinary for it, nevermind serving customers!!!And yes the lady in the avatar is me

That is the most arrogant excuse from a retail outlet that I have ever heard.
" it takes time to take the dummy cases off the shelves "
It takes time for paying punters to stand there like lemons wishing to buy something you proclaim to sell.
You may ( have ) fob people off all day long, and consider it the norm. But when us lowlife customers go to normal shops and present the "completely underworked" staff with something we would like to purchase then we normally get it. Shoe shops excepted.
IMHO Retail staff are there for US not vice versa. And when somebody comes in my shop I am there for THEM.S!!!!horpe0 -
You get 6 of each game in stock so you put 6 dummy boxes for each game out.
If more stock comes in, put a dummy box out for each one. For each one sold, the dummy box gets put behind the counter.
Not rocket science is it?Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -

To be honest it didn't sound like they are underworked. Some companies have far too higher workloads. I've heard quiet a bit about Woolworths and it seems like's it's one of them.
Some shops are much quieter and have therefore a much lower workload. I've known many people who work in retail assume that the workload they have must be the same everywhere, this is NOT the case.0 -
Before xmas - woolworths were the ONLY high street shop to have Wii games/controllers (that they didn't have in stock) out on display (ie dummy boxes) - they made it look like you could buy them (in stock). All the other shops either didn't have the dummy boxes out - or had them out with clear signs saying "coming soon" or "sorry out of stock"
I was so annoyed at having to queue up - then be told they didn't have them. I said why have the box out then. I've wasted 20 minutes queueing up for something that the sales staff knew instantly (with out having to check) was not for sale. I told her (sale staff) none of the other shops did this. Why was woolworths wasteing their potential customers time. Then she tried to make up for it by asking - would I like to order the game? Grrrrrr. Not from woolworths no.
So Woolworhts get paid to put them out (an advert)
And then after you queue up - they try and get you to order it from them.
So us/the customer is inconvienced - so that they can make more money. Fine. Short term ... but long term - I wouldn't buy a game from Woolworths now. They aren't meant to waste our time - by not selling us stuff. They are meant to waste their time - trying to make the buying of things from them so much better than from any other shop.0 -
