Replacing tiled roof with conservatory roof?
Comments

Just get energy loss calculations done (about £150) and add extra insulation elsewhere in the property to compensate for the glass roof not achieving the required U value. Cost of insulation typically under £200.
Or if more than 3/4 of roof and 1/2 walls are glass (with some other requirements I wont bother to go into) it is a conservatory and does not need building regs.
to get saps done on an existing building with little or no insulation can be far from simple, and the cost of insulation under £200 when you haven't seen the building?!
The glazing requirements for a conservatory are one thing, but since it is open to the adjoining room and not seperated by a thermal break (i.e. exterior grade door) it would never be deemed a conservatory! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. I'm happy to stand by my advice. I have qualified my comments by saying "typically" or "about", I'm sure the original poster knows they will not get 100% accurate replies on the strength of a forum post, just some friendly advice to point them in the right direction.0

so how many typical listed buildings have you done sap calculations for at £150 and installed £200 of insulation to meet current regs? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Im afraid it does if you are removing the physical barrier and knocking through. You will also need cavity trays fitted and they will then need to do the calcs. My advice is to leave the connecting doors in until after the job is finished and then remove. If you ever sell the property and its a problem, you can always reinstate them.0 -
Thank you, that's very helpful and has given me a good ball park figure. As I mentioned it needn't be a precise costing, just a good idea of whether I'm looking at a couple of grand or 20k. Thank you all, will tootle of to see the listed buildings lot...0
