Vodafone - Iphone unlocking

Hi,

I have been given instructions by Vodafone to unlock my iPhone.

The instructions say put in a SIM from another network then update via iTunes.

Problem is the phone is jailbroken. Does anybody know if this will still work?

Also I don't want it locked to another network as I'm still in contract with Vodafone. I just wanted to test another network in various locations to see if I get better signal. I'm not sure if iTunes will relock the phone to the other SIM.

wont work as you need to connect to the apple database via itunes, which it wont if its jailbroken. What you could do is do a complete restore to factory via itunes, this will unlock the phone, then do a restore from back up to get all your apps contacts etc back, then re jailbreak it

Also if its been done officially through vodafone, once it is unlocked it stays unlocked regardless of what sim you put in and how many times you officially update the firmware

Just a quick update.

I attached the phone to iTunes with a different SIM card in. It just changed the carrier settings and did not mess around with the jailbreak.
