I like Freddy am also doing the searching and buying for friends and family, some neither.

They either don't have time or a PC and as I work from home and am online from 8am-6pm every day, I'm in a good position to help.

I also like the challenge and not letting people down, it makes me try harder to help others.

I bought my own last year when they first came out, since I have bought well over 20 for friends and family, 5 in the past 2 weeks , will be 6 if todays gamestation order goes through.

No harm in helping people to find an item and if it wasn't to rare I would say it's in stock here good luck, but as they sell in seconds, it's easier to just buy and then collect the money later.

you having a laugh???? do you really think they would waste their time checking every order place via that link against those who registered? Gimme a break you fool

Thank you for calling me a fool...very kind of you & I'm sure within the spirit of this board.

What I can tell you for a fact is that John Lewis do. I ordered my wii from there and the following week managed to order and pay for one for my sister. The item was recalled at the despatch stage as it I had already received one.

Whether gamestation do or not, I wouldn't know. I'm not likely to find out either as I haven't ordered one from there.
  • I have just spoken to someone at Argos, and apparently they will be checking multiple reservations of Wii's through the same accounts. What was suggested was to use the text service.

If it helps people on here, and for those without access to a PC full time, use the Argos text reply service for a really quick reservation. I have pasted the details below:

STEP 1 - opt in to a 'back in stock' text message
    • Type the catalogue number, enter a space, then type in your nearest town name or the store number where you want to make the reservation (list of stores provided at the back of the Argos catalogue or in our Store locator).
    • Send your text message to 61201.
    • Unless the item has come back in stock since you last tried to reserve it, you will be advised that the product is out of stock. You will then be offered the option to opt in to a ‘back in stock’ text message. Opt in to the message by texting YES.
STEP 2 - ‘back in stock' message
    • When the item comes back in stock, you will receive a text message (normally sent at around 8.00am on weekdays and 9.00a m on weekends).
    • If you reply RESERVE, the product will be held for you at the store of your choice for 24 hours.
    • If the product does not come back in to stock within 10 days, you will receive a text message advising you of this. At this point, you can opt in again or cancel the request.
I hope this will help many parents out so their children can have a Merry Christmas.

don't be so harsh and call other people a fool.
and YES they do check for your information so you're the foolish one with your incorrect statement.

we are all here to help each other, so please try being a little helpful instead putting other people down and trying to call them fools.

If anyone knows of any available in the East Midlands (ideally Nottingham)

  • I have been reading this thread with great amusement..

I was in the same situation last year,, needed a wii and by the luck of the gods got one only to be disapointed with it., yet 8 games later its still in my room amongst all my other consoles.. to many,,

My advice and im not joking go on ebay and buy a SNES or N64 so many cheap great games, forget this wii nonsense go retro. The REAL snes controller beats the wii imititation.

in my day a lump of coal or a carrot was a great present.!!! :)

If your looking for wii for your kids tell them that they need to work harder next year and clean the dishes and polish more often...

Santas says wii is bad OKAY!!! read a book or educational toy

    HERE HERE,

Although just to point out, Over the last 14 months i have ordered 5 from gamestation and ALL were sent to me no problem so i don't think they do cross check how many you've had. And before anyone jumps on me for buying five they were for me and friends and family (and i sold one or two as well to try and get some of the cost of mine back). AND yes some people are nice and help others out to get one, it's not totally impossible that people can be kind and help others out. I think the people being moaned at for buying more than one to help others out are being treated a little unfair.

I've spent ages doing this this afternoon. I then get another message asking me what item I am wanting to reserve and what store. I send that off and I get the first message again!! I've been going round in circles!!

I personally do it because its a challenge and helps out other people I know, I don't take the selfish view of doing it just for myself.
At least you are finding out about where to look and know that people are getting them.
I've got 3 about 2 weeks ago, one for myself and two for friends, I will finally get paid for 1 tomorrow and they only pay what is on the receipt.

I am now trying to get another for someone that doesn't know how to use a computer, but I have got to admit I am enjoying the challenge. She only wants the console at the moment and won't pay more than rrp. She is going to buy more games after christmas because she can't afford to buy loads before, and if her son gets money for christmas he can put that towards the games
