like i said, ethical difference of opinion. i think it's a bit tragic that you need to abuse the system to make money. this forum is about money saving and helping each other.not about screwing fellow PARENTS who want the toys for their kids this christmas. yes, ethics do come into it, and i am maybe in the minority that don't copy cd's etc etc. i like to live my life the RIGHT side of the law. shoot me!

Now Freetime, I must say I was a bit saddened by this.

I've sold 2 wiis on ebay (sourced from France, I live near Dover) & have another sitting there at 99p with only 1 watcher...now that's frightening.

I have been on this forum helping others out though, & if I've had any info I've shared it. I know you have too.

However, I also know you've sold two of those much sought after dolls on ebay, starting bidding at the retail price. Surely profit was the intention here?

I re-iterate, I know you have also pointed others in the direction of where to find them, & what you do with any extras you may buy is your business, but surely you can't condemn others for doing the same as you.

I have no problem with re-selling on ebay, apart from those who start their auctions at way over the top prices. There are always those who would (& can probably well afford to) rather pay than make any effort to find one themselves. That is their choice. The seller has done the research, legwork etc & taken the risk of not making much once ebay & paypal have had their cut. Anything they make over & above that they have worked for. Nothing immoral there.
  • Very well made point. I suspect there are a lot of Verucca's who are pressuring their parents for a Wii which is very expensive even if it is in the shops. Lots of parents will bow to the pressure and buy a toy they can't afford on a credit card they can't pay off. Then the little darlings will want games to go with it.......

.....and food on the table which may subsequently become an issue if the parents don't stand up to them initially and the cards get out of hand.

On a separate note Kathryn I love your avatar :)

Well, it was on the news today that there is a global shortage of Wiis. The HMV store in London had some stock in today but that sold within an hour. However, John Lewis store has said that it will now only sell wiis online.

It seems that Nintendo have been caught on the hop because they didn't realise how popular they would be. They were also saying on the news that if you wanted one for Christmas then you won't be in luck.

Good luck in your search tho peeps:)

I don't really approve of expensive presents like this. I intend to bring DS up to save for things like this himself rather than expect to get them as presents.

Yes there are times when he will get expensive gifts - I expect at some point I will buy him a laptop so that he doesn't use my computer or lock himself in his room when he wants to be online or do his homework. I will also see that he gets his first car - a half decent one when he is of age but on condition that he doesn't get a moped the second he is 16. But these gifts will be what I can afford, when I can afford it and because I think he needs them.

At 5 he knows he won't get everything he asks for, he has asked for 3 gifts from Santa and now when he sees a commercial and says "me need that - me going to ask Santa" I ask him which of the things he has already asked for will be be saying he doesnt' want. He thinks very carefully then about what he wants most, and only one of his things is "expensive" (a kiddies laptop which cost me £26 when Argos had VTech toys reduced!!)

Thanks for the compliment - the picture really caught my eye.

Can I ask how people know who's getting what please? Is there somewhere that it's posted? Hubby would love one, but not holding his breath - it'd be SO cool to surprise him!
