Debt collectors chasing us for water bill!

Hi all

I debt collector has recently contacted me with regards to a water bill for a property I moved out of in November 2004, and it appears they have still been billing me and the person living in the property has just left the water rates in my name, the total sum ammounts to £2000+

The debt company is wanting me get evidence that I moved out on this date, is it for me to do this or the collection company?

Many thanks
Here today, hospital tomorrow :(

As you made the mistake(presumably) of not informing the water company when you moved out and settling the final bill, you are going to have to provide some evidence you moved out in November 2004.

How would the water company know you had moved out?
