Leaking/seeping water

There should be an isolation valve on the feed. You may not have recognised it? Look for a small fitting with a slot in to turn the valve. See here > http://www.screwfix.com/p/conex-isolating-valve-15mm-x/78891
You may like to turn off the water supply to the water closet until you get round to replacing the "washer". Obviously turn it on when you need to refil after flushing.
Definitely no isolation valve and would love to turn off the water supply but even the plumber could not find it though he did try but we both had limited time yesterday! Luckily the leak was on the hot water pipe so he was able to fix.
He suggesting speaking to my neighbours to find out where their supply tap was as mine should be in the same place.0 -
You must have a stop c o c k, usually it is under the kitchen sink. There will be another one outside your property under a service cover.
If you can't find them(?), any decent plumber will be able to fit a new one on your mains supply by freezing the cold water pipe."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Thanks for the suggestions, still looking have spent half the afternoon searching for it and still none the wiser. Went to my neighbour and hers is in the gas cupboard, mine isnt and no signs of a water pipe anywere in that area. I can only assume it goes to the kitchen under the floorboards.
I took everything from under the sink in the hope it was there but its not
I did find 2 isolators under there that are attached to the hot/cold feed to the mixer tap, never noticed them before and realise what they are due to the posts on this thread.
So in all in the kitchen within 2 ft of each other are 2 isolators in one cupboard under the sink which turn off the hot/cold water to the sink and in the cupboard next to it is what I thought was the stoptap and a red wheel which also turn off the hot/cold water to the skin but have no effect whatsoever on the water supply upstairs
I have no idea where else to search for it, I can't believe someone has hidden it so well. I can't believe I have been in the house over 9 years and have only realised this!!0 -
I once did a plumbing job where the stop valve was so well hidden that I had to move the electric cooker to get to it.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
I once did a plumbing job where the stop !!!! was so well hidden that I had to move the electric cooker to get to it.
I do know its not under the cooker as that is stood on the part of my kitchen that is concrete.
My next place to try is lifting the cushion floor up to see if there are any signs in the floorboards for access, not looking forward to it though. I cannot think of anywhere else it could be as no signs above ground and its approx 26ft run to the kitchen sink from the access point on the pavement - think this is a weekend task.
The other option until I find the stopc*ck is trying to get the foot of murky water out of the access point on the pavement so I can see if I can access the tap in there.0
