Praise for dominos!

This is a weird praise. But after a quite frankly !!!! day at work which resulted me coming home 2 and a half hours later then I should of, I ordered a dominos pizza 30 minutes before closing time. 1 Medium Pizza and a portion of chicken kickers.

It arrived quickly. But I got a larger pizza then what I ordered, Nearly double the portion of chicken kickers and some wedges! Still got charged the same price for what I ordered too! I think it was food which would of gone in the bin when they closed but I appreciated the extra. Couldn't finish the pizza so that will come to work with me tomorrow for lunch :)

So thanks dominos for cheering me up. I'm going to bed a full and happy person. :p
I try to help as much as I can. But I'm also honest and speak my mind.

Smoke free since Jan 2014 :D If you want any advice on quitting please send me a PM. :)

nice!!! talk about a good end to a rubbish day! I freeze dominos, I tend to get the 2 for tuesday as I find dominos quite expensive (well it is even with that offer anyway lol) and I'd eat the lot if it was lying around - I stick a couple of slices in food bags and freeze them, so if I fancy pizza I just either leave one of the bags out to defrost or use the defrost setting on the microwave. makes it last a lot longer = better value and means I don't eat too much in one go.
never had a problem with it - dont know about the kickers though but its good that your lunch for tommorow is sorted!

My mate used to work as a delivery driver for domino's from what i understand they give away all they're food the to the pig farms by the end of the night so they have to use it or lose it.

So basically if you phone any dominoes about 20 mins before close they will give you extra if they have it :P.

Also i will join in this praise in dominos ....despite dominos being expensive i think the dominos in falkirk has really really upped their game and every pizza ive had recently has been excellent. They always used to burn their pizzas or they used to be tasteless.

And now the other side of the coin....

A few weeks ago I called my usual dominos to order a small pizza mega deal (9.5" pizza, garlic bread, potato wedges & 1.5 litre coke). Now after spending almost 10 minutes on the phone (we had driven 7 miles in this time) trying to get my order across to a foreign gentleman who couldn't understand what I was saying (good choice of telephonist), when we got to the "where do you live" part I was told a new dominos franchise had opened closer to me than the one I was speaking to and therefore they couldn't deliver to me and I was to call the closer franchise, despite the old one serving me three times in the last five weeks since this new one opened. I was annoyed at wasting 10 minutes but politely ended the call and called the new dominos.
I was greeted on the phone by a young girl who seemed incapable of taking my order, I asked for the same as above, and she replied that this franchise "didn't so this as a meal deal", so I asked her if they sold the items individually, to which she replied yes, but they "didn't do them as a meal", I said fine. I would have them. She said she couldn't sell them to me as they weren't a meal combo. I asked again if they sold the items individually, she replied yes. I asked what would happen if I just wanted one or two of the items I had ordered? She seemed confused by this and didn't answer, so I asked her what her job was. She said "to take pizza orders". I asked her what she thought she was doing now. To which she said "taking your order". I repeated my order to which she said, but you know this isn't a meal, so I cant sell this to you. I ended the call.
I complained the following day only to receive a generic email from dominos telling me i would be contacted by the franchise shortly.

I received two indecipherable phone calls from someone who couldn't speak very good english , and 1 scrappy email from a yahoo.com address telling me the new staff hadn't been trained yet and my next meal was free. (hardly official, how would i claim this? by printing it out? It read like a five year old had written it.)

Needless to say, we did have pizza that night, but not from Dominos, and to be honest I haven't ordered from them since.

Giving away slightly larger portions of food that they are just about to throw away isn't the epitome of good service, but if that's all its takes to keep you coming back....

The e-mail would have been from the franchisee who won't have the facility to e-mail you from an "official" address.

You would claim it exactly as you suggest, print it out! The store will almost certainly be aware it is genuine. If not, they will have the facility to check with the franchisee who may well be in the store when you claim anyway!

Personally I wouldn't let a free meal go to waste because I have decided it isn't "official" enough! :rotfl:

I had a very weird one with dominos the other night. Ordered pizza about 50 mins before closing, and had the order tracking open - you know, where it tells you its being cooked etc.

Anyway, about 30 mins on it changed to delivered. Thats weird I thought, so we waited a good ten minutes thinking he'd be here any sec - which he wasn't.

Called the store who were pretty thick and immovable to be honest, they kept saying if its showing delivered its been delivered, thats all he would say!

I asked him, in a teeth gritted kind of way, to please call the delivery fella and check.

The guy said well I can't he's on deliveries....so my voice and teeth gritted a bit more and he seemed to see I was serious lol.

So 20 minutes later he calls back, after we'd tried calling and no one answered and says oh yes theres a mix up he'll be there in a sec.

A few minutes passes and the guys at the door. Instead of 2 large pizzas in 2 large boxes, we got 2 large pizzas, but in half and each half in its own large box so 4 in total :rotfl:

Dunno what was going on there but someone was not having a good day!

Not the epitome of good service. But it helps.

I am not a fan personally as they are so expensive and I think Pizza Hut are much nicer or even Asdas make your own ones. They are all franchises so the quality and level of service will depend on who is running that branch.

I also know that our local ones pay the under 18's who work there the minimum wage (about £4 an hour) and do that thing where they send you home if they are quiet. Say you are supposed to work 6 -11pm. You turn up, but by 7 they realise it's a quiet night and send you home paying you only for an hour. The mark up on the pizzas is huge too.

You can have fun checking the hygiene standards of your local takeaway on this site. Loads with no stars and very poor hygiene.

Never had a problem with my local branch (Wilmslow) - always good service. Once or twice it's taken a while to arrive if they're busy, but such is life. As others have said, with franchises you are always going to get some branches being better than others.

I am trying to cut down though now; their pizzas are pretty calorific. Particularly as on my last couple of orders it offered me free ice cream on the basket page (and it works in conjunction with other offers / vouchers) - how can anyone say no to free ice cream? :)

Sure you can. Although if you're going to recook then it will be about 1/5 of the price to buy one from a supermarket ;)
