I don't know whether any of them still do it, but years ago one of the pound shops in Leicester used to have a sign up that said you would get your shopping for free if you weren't given a receipt. I presume it was to stop the staff ripping off the shop, but as it turns out I never had a chance to take advantage of the policy.

I was going to post this offer earlier but you've saved me a job. There were no signs up about the BOGOF in the Poundland I went in. Luckily, the shop assistant told me about it and I went back and stopped up on a few more.

My husband went into Poundland a few months ago and asked him if they had any torches. The assistant was totally bewildered and my OH ended up standing there describing what a torch looked like and what it does.
In the end the bewildered shop assistant just said that they didn't have any and walked away looking confused!0 -

I had earlier bought about £20 worth of stuff. Didn't get a receipt. One of the things I bought was faulty so I took it back hoping to have it changed (I was a bit strapped for cash back then). She basically accused me, in front of customers and staff, that I was trying to diddle them out of a pound!!!
When I disagreed she hollered at me "don't give me your attitude!"
Needless to say I have never given the place my custom again.
How on earth do these people get jobs with that sort of customer service "skill" I'll never know. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett
