Asda return policy :(

I got my son an xbox from asda 7 months ago and i has stopped working so i took it back with the receipt and all the original box and everything that came with it. Now i would told that they have stopped selling that one (4gb) on its own. you can get your money back or upgrade to the 4gb with connect for about £90 MORE! Or get the 250gb for £70 MORE! I was lead to believe that once you buy something that is under a guarantee that if you took it back because its faulty they have to replace it with like for like. so now they dont do the one i have surely they should offer me the one with the connect but take the connect out. or upgrade it for free as its not my fault they dont sell something that they guaranteed for a year???

OR am i just being made to pay out more money and there is nothing i can do ???:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad:

Isn't the 1 year warranty with the manufacturer? I would have thought that it would be Microsoft (or whoever makes the Xbox) that would have to replace it like for like.

Yes, you can stop using so many annoying 'smilies' for a start.

Seriously though you've been offered a full refund, what more do you want - apart from a free upgrade

Get your money back and buy elsewhere.
They can choose to offer you a repair, replacement or refund. They have offered you a refund, an as such are not obliged to do any more.
In fact, you're lucky that, as the 360 is older than 6 months, they have not asked you to pay for an engineer's report to prove the fault was inherent...

Most stores give a one year guarantee which is better than SOGA so I doubt very much that Asda would go down that route.

To be offered a refund is very good customer service and I would bite their hand off. If you then buy another one you have a years guarantee again.

Snap their hand off at take the full refund. I believe they are also entitled to offer a partial refund, relevant to the a reasonable life expectancy of the product and how much use you have had from it.

So what its the life expectancy of an Xbox these days? Particularly pre-Jasper? :rotfl:

We had to return a television to Asda Direct when it went faulty after 10 months, and they gave us a full refund as they no longer stocked that particular model.

We were quite grateful that they didn't exchange like-for-like, as prices had gone down and we were able to buy an even bigger brand new television with the refund :)

Doesn't really matter, Asda offer a guarantee even if the manufacturer doesn't.

With Microsoft's repair service, I'd actually send it to them to be repaired. Result: a week later, you have your Xbox (the model you wanted) back, working, and normally with a free month's Live subscription.

exactly this happened to my husband a month or so ago.
he though he had a 'right result' though because he got his money back then went to game and bought one cheaper which came with another years warranty.

(actually i may be lying it may have been the same price but with a free game?) either way he was better off
