Just got this from my hosting provider fido.net;

Whilst we're fairly confident that our new service is live and working
well, we are looking for beta testers to help us with the next phase /
roll out.
As such, please pass the word ... anyone signing up between now and
March 14th will be able to benefit from a 50% reduction on their first
year's hosting, and receive one free domain registration with their
hosting!
If you have an existing account with us you will still be able to move
across (we will even assist you with the move of your web site / etc
from it's existing hosting on our servers) and we can move your domain
across at the same time.
To qualify, visit http://www.fido.net/ and choose either the Home or
Business hosting package
Enter your details as normal, if you already have your domain hosted
with us use the "Manual Transfer" option, if you do not then you must
register a new domain at this time.
Once done, continue to the payment section and use the offer code
BETATEST
This will mean you qualify for up to £12 discount off a domain / first
year free, and a 50% discount off your first years hosting ... That's
effectively £25 plus VAT for a .com domain and 1 year's hosting.
This beta offer is open until March 14th 2005. We reserve the right to
close the Beta Test earlier should we deem it necessary. Discounts are
only applicable at the time of ordering and you must use the offer code
BETATEST to qualify.

What about the free hosting companies out there.
You'll not get the same amount of storage or bandwidth but for most personal sites they will be ok.
https://www.bizhat.com
https://www.atspace.com
They are worth looking at and if you want a domain name you can get a . com for £( or .co.uk for £5 (2 years) at https://www.1and1.co.uk
I must say paid for hosting is always going to be more stable so if you would rather have paid for hosting you could try this place
http://photomodelhost.net/
Costs start at £20 per year and although its not got the same amount of storage etc the price isnt changing when the decide that its working well.
50 MB Web Space
1 GB Bandwidth
5 Mail Accounts
FTP / CGI / PHP4/MySQL
FP 2002 Extensions
Web Based Ctrl Panel
There is alot of stuff out there. Use some savy and youll get what's best for you0
