    Thanks for the info guys.

I CAN see why it looks dodgy and the only reasons I can surmise are the ones I have already put above.

Regardless of that however it still sucks to be a victim and yet clearly not believed and suspected of being a fraudster.

    ohh well....

Edit I just phoned the apeals people, last chance and if i fail I will let it lie.

I suggested they look at the cctv footage on the cashpoint and it will make it clear it was not me withdrawing money.

Do you guys think there is any chance they will do this?

If you do not report the cards lost, then there will absolutely be no chance for you to win (even though it is not you in the CCTV). If you did report lost cards and stick to your claim, they would need additional evidences besides card & pins (no longer enough) to prove that you authorized the transactions. And the CCTV would be the first source.

Wouldn't hold out much hope of anyone viewing CCTV footage from a bank in Spain. It's difficult enough to get anyone to view footage here in the UK ! Plus there might not even be any.
  • Yeah that is what I thought, but you know what, the money is gone now, so I asked on the basis that if they do and they come through that is fab.

worse case scenario is they get back to me and say no, we have looked again and still find you at fault.

What I find ironic (In the Alanis "not quite accurate meaning of the word" Morissette kind of way) is that IF I had lied and just said my cards were stolen never to be seen again after using the cash point, I bet they would have paid up and not worried, but because I told the truth that I got the cards back - a story which even my mates laugh at me about I have made it more complicated and put suspicion on myself/my fellow stag mates.

You're right ! Just a hint, but i've dealt with fraud cases like this (many times) and some customers just won't accept our decision if we hold them liable. If you write and complain to your card issuers customer relations or complaints department, i'll bet ;) you get your money back. ;);) Worth a try ?
