Urgent help! Ebay shows that I bought a mobile.

I've just had an email from ebay with an order update, showing that a mobile phone has been bought, paid for and despatched.

I did not buy this phone, and can't afford it. what the hell do I do?

I've checked my ebay account, and sure enough, it shows it as bought etc.

I've checked my paypal, and that shows that the money has gone out as well.

There is a Royal Mauil tracking number, but no info yet.

Just be sure - did you click on a link in the email to check or did yo go separately to your account - just checking, it could be spam.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • I'm currently on the phone with ebay.
I initially thought/hoped it was spam, so accessed account from browser.

  • That's the most annoying thing: I used to be a freelance IT consultant, so am ridiculously careful when it comes to internet security.

Ebay have been really helpful, and I've opened paypal dispute on the grounds of unauthorised payment. I've also spoken to the police, and am waiting for a call back. I have Royal Mail tracking number (next day delivery due tomorrow), and delivery address, so there is the chance to catch the miscreant redhanded, but only if the local plods have the manpower/inclination.
  • Just a quick update.
Paypal have now refunded me but the investigation goes on.
Both Ebay and Paypal accepted my claim. the police gave me an incident number but said they won't be attempting to catch anyone at the point of delivery :( I'm disappointed about that, as I firmly believe that the fraudster will be long gone by the time paypal conclude their investigation and pass details to police.

they would arrest the person receiving not the postie.......think about it!!
Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.
  • I spoke to the police about unauthorised activity on my account and they said it was a civil dispute with Paypal and wouldn't get involved :S

But the postie would deliver to an address not a named individual...
    Thinking critically since 1996....
