Basically, the police have said that they will wait for paypal to conclude their investigation, and for paypal to pass them the details, before they will act. It seems that the delivery address is a student HMO. I reckon that the fraudster is either not actually resident there (maybe staying for a few days with a friend) or will be moving out in the very near future.
I suppose I was hoping that the police would intervene and have words with whomever accepts delivery. Curiously, Royal Mail tracking is still showing that the parcel is in the system, seemingly not delivered yet. Maybe some action has taken place that I'm not privy too?
Anyway, paypal came up trumps and refunded the money within 24 hours of me contacting them.0 -

Brilliant. I wonder whether the sender was able to retrieve the item if it was still in the post office when they were told there was a problem?
I don't know what your legal rights are about cancelling the service once you've given the item over the counter.0 -
Surely the seller would only send it to the address registered with Paypal,i.e. YOUR address?0

When they manage to hack into your accounts they change the postal address.0

Thats an assumption the fake buyer has only listed an address. They could easily snare the fake buyer by holding the parcel at the sorting office (they have the tracking number) and making him/her collect.Surely the seller would only send it to the address registered with Paypal,i.e. YOUR address?
Some sellers do agree to send it to other addresses though. I suspect it would be quite easy to get a newish seller to send a phone elsewhere by simply stating your on holiday with family and you need it sending there etc or some other lame excuse. Quite a few sellers also send to the ebay address and not the paypal address!! My old dears paypal is !!!!!!ed since she got married and changed her name, she has given up phoning paypal to sort it so uses her ebay account and my paypal, out of the last 20 items only 1 has come to me the rest have gone to her!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
