John Lewis will start hiring in about a month or 2 ready for Christmas temp staff. They also hire people on permanently after that.
And theres one in Cardiff.0 -
If you want to work in retail you might also want to pop into charity shops and ask if you could use you as a volunteer to boost your CV while you are job hunting. You would then be able to say you had retail experience. But a banker, engaged at enormous expense,Had the whole of their cash in his care.

Is it just retail you are interested in? Or any customer service? I used to work in a cinema complex and they would hire from age 16 upward, so it might be worth trying there, especially as it is the school holidays, and big movie season.2011 Wins : Models own makeup product, Photoplusx4 software:j Mens hair dye :rotfl:0

I wouldn't ask if they have any 'jobs for 16 year olds' as one poster suggested, just ask for any available vacancies: don't attract attention to your age, just act natural.
Also, make sure you CV and cover letter are spelled correctly: you wouldn't believe how many badly spelt CVs I saw in my last retail job.
Also, dress smart. The saying 'There's never a second chance to make a first impression' is so very, very true. Wear a suit, if you've got one: even if you are overdressed compared to everyone in the shopping centre and feel like a bit of a dipstick, people will really notice the effort you have made, and remember you for it much more than if you look like every other shopper there. If you try places like some of the electrical retailers where the male staff already wear trousers, shirts and ties, you will look more like you 'belong'.
Also, smile. If you are working in a customer service industry, people want to see that you are personable and that you look like you would get on with their customers.
Best of luck!0 -
Wetherspoon pubs are very good at taking on school leavers for kitchen assistant/glass collector positions. You'd be able to work behind the bar once you're 18.
Quite a lot of the larger shops do online recruitment now as well, it might be worth a search on the internet too.Barclaycard 0% - [STRIKE]£1688.37 [/STRIKE] Paid off 10.06.120 -
Clicky Clicky - you know many 16 year olds with a Sky subscription? And with knowledge of 9v telephone line dbs?
It's just the way it reads.
Can't see why asking about jobs at 16years old makes someone a troll, I doubt a 50 year old would ask that.Wanted a job, now have one. :beer:0 -
