Ok so going to Cali in sept, but have been watching the US dollar and wondered whether is would be best to change my money now? Do we think the the dollar will start to get stronger again?

Where you buy your dollars is much more important than when you buy them.

A good rule of thumb is to buy 1/2 when you like the rate, then 1/2 just before you go.
It's around 1.64 at the moment which is just about as high as it's been for a couple of years.

If we all knew what was going to happen to the exchange rate we'd all be millionaires...

I'm not familiar with "Ice" but the rate has gone up 1.5c just today. Not sure when they update their rates.
The rate I quoted was the inter bank rate (i think it's called) and not the tourist rate. Tourist rate will be 1 or 2c lower

The live rate shown on finantial sites is the mid bid/offer rate.......the tourist rate can be much lower.......check it out yourself..........google live pound/euro rate then check out travel money maximiser, remember on this you will/can get much better than the tourist rate quoted on bbc text.

Morrow56, ICE confirm the US$ rate @ 1.6081 for today. As commented the rates to vary. Our home delivery service is offering 1.6012....It really is up to you as to when you leave it but at least getting your currency now, you won't be leaving it the last minute and end up getting your currency from the airport and loose out even more.....Hopefully ICE will be your choice and have a good trip!

Spam ? or just a blatant advert for ICE from ICEPLC

While ICE are consistantly top of the best rate comparison chart on this site they are welcome to let us know.........but should they not offer the best rates...then that would be spam.
