    Well as you said the water company has agreed they will fix like for like. i.e they won't make it better. What have they done to fix it so far? As you said it's a wooden framed property so it shouldn't be too difficult to remove the plasterboard then remove and replace the insulation and replace the plasterboard. Inconvenient...very inconvenient. I'd ask for B+B accomodation whilst they are doing the work.
