Homeserve (poss mis-)sold

My Mum, who is in her 70's, joined homeserve, the paperwork came with the water rates. To cover any cost if the pipes become blocked etc. I've since found out because the house was built in the 1920's, the pipework is covered by something called "section 25" which is for any house before the 1930's. I've checked the severn trent web site and there is nothing on there about this section 25. She cancelled the homeserve last year, will she be intitled to any money back? Seeing that she was sold something she didn't need and has also payed out twice I believe to have the drains unblocked. She has only lived in this house a couple of years.

Is it this policy ? http://www.homeserve.com/emergency-cover/plumbing

If it is it also covers other problems so not sure if you would be able to get a refund.

Ive come across this 1930's thing before but was quite a few years back now as a customer had a collapsed drain in a terraced row and mentioned it to me , i reported the problem but got passed to another team so dont know the outcome.

was your mum 'sold' something as a benefit to her or did she receive paperwork, fill it in and send it off from her own free will?

The Homeserve policies do cover other issues as well as blocked drains so it's unlikely she'd be entitled to a refund if it didn't cover 1 of x problems and she signed up for it willingly.
