Help! looking for best flights to Oz

Hi
Newbie here. Getting a bit down at flight prices :( . We are looking to visit family in Oz with our 8 month old (can go anytime in next year, whatever gets us the best deal). Have tried all the main airlines, and comparing websites and they are all quoting a LOT higher than in previous years?

Would anyone have any good ideas on how to find best Oz flight deals? or when is the best month to book? Ideally like to book with one of the big carriers as we have the baby

Thank you in advance

That may be due to increases in departure taxes and the high fuel price.

Airlines usually have sales end of Aug/Sept, but some may pop up before then, just keep your eye on websites and newspaper ads.

Will do, thanks for the advice.

Hope we find a good deal soon to take the little one to meet his grand parents in Oz!

£775 today on Expedia for a mid Feb flight via Etihad. Decent airline. Cheaper than I've seen in a while.

Cathay, Malaysian, etc all seem to be a grand or more.

Thanks for the pointer. We've had a look and are not too sure about Etihad as haven't flown with them before.

Some of the reviews Ive read say they are cheaper but if you have a problem the customer service is poor, so with bringing our baby I dont know if their airline would be good.

I flew to OZ in Jan this year and it cost me £1134,with qantas
I am flying out again in November and it had gone down to £1099
Nov and Feb are the cheaper months

Etihad are about the same level of service as Emirates. Both based in the UAE. Emirates used to be very good, but quality has decreased over the last decade in my opinion.

I wouldn't be worried about flying Etihad. The worst service I ever had was with BA/Quantas, when they left me stranded in Japan for 3 days with no accurate information, then put me into the wrong city to complete the journey.

You can get poor customer service with any of the majors.

thank you all very much for the replies. I think we'll take a look at reviews for Etihad, sounds good. Some of the carriers dont let you reserve bassinets though, so would hate the stress of 20+ hours without one.

Do a list of airlines that allow reservation of bassinets and then keep an eye on their special offers.
