Sorry to butt in guys - but anyone have any recommendations for prickly heat when you's are at it - ~ I have to buy Parasol sunscreen which is very expensive and doesn't fully prevent it - this is a new reaction for me over the last few years and its horrendous ! I don't know anyone else who suffers from it?

    Thanks

Home Bargains have got packets of seeds in again this year, 6 packets of veggie seeds in one big packet for 79p. They are the same ones as those in Poundland. Fantastic price seen as seeds are about £2 a single packet these days from nurserys.

IF/WHEN you have it, have you tried ALOE VERA to help soothe and ease the irritation

I'm talking STRAIGHT OUT OF THE PLANT

Just cut off a "leaf", one of its "arms", and squeeze out the jelly inside and smear it on.
Great for sunburn and other such "after-sun" moments

I find that taking antihistamine tablets a few days before I go until I get home helps quite a lot. It is too late if you wait until the PH starts although it does help with the itching. Once the PH has started the only way I can get rid of it is to keep covered up and try to stay out of the sun for at least 5 days, not much fun if you are on holiday.

The best way I have found to avoid spoiling a holiday is to try and bring on the PH a few weeks before I go. Then you can stay out of the sun for a week or so and when I do go on holiday it doesn't usually come back. The immunity only lasts a few weeks though so a lot depends on the weather before you go.

yes my other half suffers terribly!
take 1 tablet of either cetirizine or loratidine (an antihistamine, they help to relieve itching) it works all day
apply http://www.magicool.uk.com/magipl2.htm itch spray when required
use factor 50+ sun cream we like the kids loreal resisto one as it is not sticky or oily
the magicool spray really helps him. i use it on things like nettle rash and it really helps

Sorry to go OT, but last year my husband and daughter, and a French friend, took daily vitamin B from about April. All three of them have suffered horribly in the past - no French holiday was complete without a visit to a pharmacy - and all three of them were hardly bitten, and when they were, didn't react.

tried vit B for a season, no change, also tried brewers yeast and garlic tablets but again no real difference. Do use avon skin so soft and agree that it works well, just dont like the smell after using it for so many years, also worry about using it during day in the sun.

Also can vouch for aloe vera for prickly heat... I buy tubes of it from holland and barrett and it works wonders.

Sorry for the off topic thread!!
