It's never been Home & Bargain so have no idea why you (or Liverpudlians) would call it so.

It is Home Bargains and always has been.

Not correct. :p It changed it's name a few years ago, which is why LIVERPOOL people still call it that. And Widnes people as well.
I don't think they were anywhere else but have expanded in the last few years and changed it's name.
  • Can anyone tell me if they still sell veet, witch (hazel) or jelly beans in HB? I brought a 200ml tube or veet last year for £2.50 n wondered if they still did them?
    TIA

I will be popping into my local one later today so added what you are looking for to my list ( not to buy just to check if they sell them) and will let you know later - although mine is not as big as it used to be so even if they do not doesn't mean bigger branches don't, but anyway will look.

YES, but that's where you've dived in with both feet, made assumptions and come up with 2 + 2 = 5, where in fact you are wrong.

When the post below was made at 11:51pm last night ............

... IT WASN'T on THIS HB thread at all.

It was all on its lonesome. The 1st post in a NEW THREAD. :rotfl:

That's why I enquired if aml1977 meant Home Bargains because there "isn't one" on 'East Lancs Rd Liverpool'

NOT according to their own website

However having then used Google maps and come at it from a different direction I believe I found the store in question.

It's the one listed as on PORTAL WAY
    AXIS Business Park
    Gillmoss

The "Corona thread" (which at around 1am consisted of 6 posts) was MERGED with this one several hours later.

And regards "call it what you like" ...

best of luck going into a shop and asking for Opal Fruits, a Marathon bar or a bottle of Jif cleaner :rotfl:

There's no need to be so pedantic, it's very unpleasant and offputting for people that want to post.

For everyone that lives in the area (and there's a lot of us, the East Lancs is a very long road) we all know what we mean when someone says 'the East lancs' store.

We don't expect to have someone check up on locations and post to correct us. It's not very nice being told off when you're only trying to help. Yes, you may say I am telling you off (which is true) and you may say you were trying to help but I don't believe that posting the correct postal address for a store when all concerned with the area are happy with the term 'east lancs' to describe it is helpful at all. It seems you like to 'correct' people that are 'wrong'. The phrase 'no-one likes a know-it-all' springs to mind.

Totally agree. Been shopping in Home & Bargain for years. I would also say that it was East Lancs road, which incidentally is a massive store and right next door to their distribution centre.

I've always called it Home and Bargain too, it did used to be called that.

But your forgetting the newbies to the area as well as those from out of town who could be passing. The correct address, would be helpful to them.

  • I have just done a search for available premises within my area and sent an email suggesting some potential sites within the Devon area. I miss my shopping in home bargains :(

I bought 3 at my local hb yesterday for 59p, then went to asda and selling for £2.50 so well chuffed. Think you get stickers, magnets as well as choc in them. Worth a trip to home bargains. Hallmark stock cheap there as well, eg lovely 20m balls of pearly pink ribbon for 10p!
