i have just been given a beautiful camera for xmas from kids. its a fuji digital camera f460/f470 with 5.1 mega pixels. not to technically minded, so bea with me. i understand that i need a memory card if i want to take lots of pics and cant download straight away. ie. on hols etc. well was going to take camera into a dixons/comet etc and ask what one i should get. have been told it would cost about £30. well while desperately searching nectar points website to find something to spend points on they have two memory cards listed on the sound and vision page that are called sandex 512mb one is for approx 3000 points and the other is for approx 5000. i happen to have 5345 points so could get either. but are they the sort i need to get for my camera? are they a good make? is it a good deal?
will try to paste page below but if not successful as i said its on nectar.com under the sound and vision section. thanks in adavance from a real techno virgin lol

I think for your camera you need an xD memory card (check your manual) - the one on the Nectar site is an SD card - not compatible!
Some prices here for comparison:

You will get around 400 pics on a 1Gb card, 200 on a 512Mb at the best picture quality.Charlie0 -
This camera uses XD cards fact. As it is Fuji's own memory card type.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0

thanks for all your replies, however, am only more confused now. i think i have gatheres that for my camera i shouldnt go over a 1GB card. but on all the websites that have been recommeneded for good deals they offer all diferent types 128mb? 256mb? 512mb? what is the difference. i am assuming it means the biggest has largest memory and so will hold more oics. but none of the descriptions say how many pics you get on a 128mb??? just need to take the usual family pics?? what one do i get??? also amazon seems the cheapest does anyone have a free delivery code??? PLUS while taxing your brains i also want to get a memory stick so i can copy info from my laptop that i use daily in bedroom (as disabled) to main computer in front room that has a printer attached. thought i might as well buy this at same time if i have to pay delivery for amazon it makes sense to get both now. my laptop is an INTEL PENTIUM M 735 1.76HZ, ADVENT 7103. will not be used for business just copying the odd knitting pattern etc? PLEASE HELP WHICH TWO ITEMS DO I NEED FOR BOTH JOBS???? thanks in advance for all your help i dont know how i would manage on a day to day basis without this mse site to turn to for all your advice and help!!!!0

All you need to know about number of pics per card here (although I did mention it briefly above):
http://www.fujifilm.co.uk/digital/cameras/f460/index.php?page=tech_specs&lpage=/digital/cameras/range.php
You want to take photos at the maximum quality to give you more options when it comes to editing them, although this will reduce the number of photos you can get on the card. Go for the 1Mb Amazon one, that's the best value, and you'll fit 400 on it at maximum quality.
For transferring files between your two computers you'll want a USB memory stick (assuming you have a USB port on both machines) like this:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/ByteStor-Speed-Dataferry-Flash-Drive/dp/B000A0D8JU/sr=8-1/qid=1167945811/ref=pd_ka_1/026-2229720-2384458?ie=UTF8&s=electronics
or this one with twice the capacity:
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Kingston-Technology-2GB-Flash-Drive/dp/B000ERAON2/sr=8-15/qid=1167945811/ref=pd_ka_15/026-2229720-2384458?ie=UTF8&s=electronics
Buy the memory card and the USB stick from Amazon and you'll qualify for free delivery!Charlie0
