Flights to USA

Options
Hello, this is my first posting. Can anyone help or advise me as to which is the best airline to use to travel to Orlando from UK. I have read many poor reports on review sites for various operators and I am now becoming frustrated and :pwary of who has the best all round service, seat size, price etc.

In economy? They are all roughly the same - the differences are minor so go with price on whomever gives you direct flight.

They all serve crap food, and the seats are cramped. European carriers tend to provide free alcohol, whereas the US carriers will charge. I think the only genuine difference might be if you have you own seat back TV or screens in the aisle.

  • Thank you for this quick response, you are probably right in that they are all similar. I just didn't want to take a chance and start my hols in a grumpy mood.

There are the charter airlines that offer economy and premium cabins, BA and Virgin that do economy and premium economy, some think they are better than the charter airlines, Virgin have/are getting new planes A330. Then there are the US/Canadian airlines wher you may have to have one-stop before you get there.

Where in the UK are you?
Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.
  • We are based in the midlands but will fly from either Manchester, Birmingham, Gatwick etc. Having read some other threads, it seems wise to travel direct as there does appear to be some issues over baggage charges flying internally in US and although we don't want to pay through the nose, it may be wiser to go with BA or Virgin direct as there will hopefully be no hidden charges/surprises.

the choices from the uk are BA, virgin direct into orlando international airport the charter flights go into sanford you say you wish to fly from Manchester, Birmingham, Gatwick there are no direct flights from birmingham, virgin have one from manchester but at some points of the year it does a stop in glasgow to pick up more passengers, BA have 1 flight a day from gatwick and virgin 2 flights a day ( most of these flights land at orlando at the same time and the ques and be a nightmare also might be worth looking at tampa direct from gatwick might be a bit cheaper and the airport a lot quicker to get though and about an hour's drive to orlando, an other option is atlanta and its around 2 hour drive to orlando, hope this helps lgw ps if you choose BA from gatwick i might see you onboard

If you buy a ticket from, for example, Manchester to Orlando via JFK you will not pay internal baggage fees. So don't worry about that.

Personally I'd always fly direct. Connections mean wasted time and more chance of your bags going missing. As mentioned above, in economy the airlines are much of a muchness.

Atlanta is 435 miles from Orlando. More like a 7 hour drive. After a transatlantic flight this isn't something you'd want to contemplate doing!
