How to you transfer things to a new memory card on a Sony Ericisson X10 mini pro?

I purchased a new memory card for my Sony Ericisson X10 mini pro as its memory was full. However although I have the new card inserted into the handset I cannot work out how to transfer the things over. Can anyone please advise me?

For my model from that range (X10 Xperia) I would connect phone (containing old card) to PC, mount card, then either using SE's Media Go or probably Windows Explorer and copy the contents of the card to a folder on the PC.

Disconnect phone, swap cards.

Re-connect to PC, mount, copy contents of folder to new card.

For some reason I cannot get that to work.

I've just found this "Android 2.2 and above support apps to SD Card (provided apps are movable)." That explains why I cannot get the files copied over, presuming this is correct. Mine has 2.1-update1 and it is supposed to be up to date.
