Best non smartphone?
I'm after a new mobile phone after my trusty 3 year old Sony Ericsson is showing signs of failing but I don't fancy one of these smartphones, for the simple reason they're too wide (to stick in a pocket along with other things like wallet/keys etc). Sure they're thinner than older mobiles but it's the width that I don't like, plus I prefer buttons to using a touchscreen.
So... can anyone recommend a decent 'candybar' phone, with decent features. I'm not bothered at all about listening to music on it but a half decent camera (by phone standards) would be good.

All that really comes to mind is a blackberry of some sort - but then you'll get the problem of width that you don't like. They're very good business type phones though so might be worth having a play with one.
I believe nokia still make some non touchscreen handsets but the problem I think you'll find is that it sounds like you're looking for fairly up to date features which tend to be used in smartphone type shells now. I have an ericsson K800i and a c910i i think it is that I still take with me on holiday to avoid damaging my good phones and to be perfectly honest both are still (though mainly the c910i) very capable handsets, has opera mini browser for the web a decent camera and does the whole 'phone' thing very well, which is the one thing most modern phones are fairly useless at! You could pick one of these up for quite literally pennies0 -
Nokia C3 is quite good, it has a QWERTY keyboard though. However, I think a winner here would be the Nokia X2. There's quite a few features, it's narrow and it's your standard candy bar keyboard.

That x2 looks like the phone you want to me too0

The x2 was looking good until I read there's no 3G on it, which is a shame as it's otherwise just what I was looking for. Although I don't use the internet a lot on my current phone (k810) I don't want to be going backwards in the feature stakes.0

You'll struggle finding a completely non-touch screen or qwerty phone with decent features and 3G. Have a look at the Nokia C3-01, it's partially touch screen but still has buttons for dialling and texting.

As above or nokia 67000

Correct me if I'm wrong but didnt the sony ericson k810, k850, c905 etc all have 3G?
It's really annoying how nobody makes a high end phone without it being so darn wide but I refuse to buy a smartphone just cos everyone else has one. My needs haven't changed so I just want a decent candybar phone.
Thanks for the c3-o1 recommendation - it looks like that's the only possibility. I don't mind some touch buttons, I just like keys for texting etc but it's the size that's a big deal for me. I remember back in 2000 having a Nokia 8210. Now all these smartphones are basically mini PDAs. Nobody makes a decent phone anymore.0 -
I was the same until recently got the galaxy. I did have a Nokia 7230 did everything I needed internet, phone, text etc. Its small not wide at all slide up phone. I do miss it wouldnt have changed if the 7230 wasnt dying on me!0

I haven't seen this anywhere before but considering you had a sony ericsson before would this one suit?

Good call. I'm guessing the Cedar is the replacement for the Elm? Still a bit low on cost, I'd rather pay double for a better spec.
Whatever next, the Sony Ericsson Horse Chestnut?!0
