Keeping email address

I am with BT business braodband, which is turning out quite expensive and am considering changing internet providers.
I got the BT business account when I had a BT commercial line and that was all they offered for commercial lines. I changed the line to an ordinary BT domestic line (I work from home) about a year ago, but still kept the BT Business braodband.
I am fairly computer literate, but I seem to have a blind spot on working out the best deal in things like mobile phones and internet etc.
If I go to another internet provider can I keep this BT Business internet email address? The obvious answer is probably "yes", but BT seem to treat anything to do with business lines or accounts differently from that of domestic lines or accounts.
Please note it is a xxxxx@btconnect.com address that I want to keep.

I believe you have to upgrade to a BT premium account to receive email after leaving @ £1.54 per month.
A much simpler option is to register your own domain and email approx £10.00 pa0 -

Thanks for that. If you are still around, what exactly does "register your own domain and email" mean. Do you mean set up a website? I do not have a website at the minute. Might be worthwhile to do it if it just cost £10.00 pa.0 -
Hi Mistral001
you don't have to setup a website I didn't at first just register a domain name,https://www.yourname.co.uk with a web hosting company such as 1and 1, 123reg.co.uk,godaddy etc then add on email.
I chose 1and1 for domain(I know some people have had problems but in 5 years i haven't) and pay just over £7 inc vat for 2 years, firstly I was just redirecting to an old aol account I had using my domain name which made it look as though emails were sent/received from mydomain.
Latterly I took the email (Instant mail package 83p per month) upto 150 email accounts if needed.
The real beauty is when i need an email address to sign up to a website and it gets sold on and apammed i can just delete it/change the name etc.0 -
