V Slicer... A Must have !!!
Comments

I bought my original Borner V Slicer in the 80's when they were a bright orange colour, it lasted me 12 years before the frame that holds the slicing blades cracked.
I bought that one from one of the promotion people doing a demo on Blackpool market, best £10 I ever spent!
Mine too, still using it. One of the first pressies that MIL got me, was from a demo at a caravan show or something."Knowledge is knowing that a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad"

Yep, great little gadget.
Until I sliced a good chunk off of my thumb. That hurt like nothing else!!! .. Couldn't use it for over a week... brrrrrrrrrrrr
Did have that prong thingy but I was slicing cabbage.. it was still too big and one little slip of attention....
ouch...
It then sat in my drawer for a year.. unused.. I just couldn't make myself use it anymore.. I got rid of it in the end...
ugh.. can still feel it thinking about it...
So be warned! It's a great tool, but stay focussed and don't get distracted while you are using it.0 -

If you use the guard then there is no way you should be able to cut yourself as it is inbetween you and the blades, were you doing what I have done and tried to finish off the last small bit of cabbage by hand.
I know I mustn't do that but I can't stop myself sometimes, bit like russian roulette!0 -

No it was the other way around. :-) It was a big piece of cabbage that was too big and too loose leafy to hold in the guard. So I just held it and sliced. Went fine until I got distracted by someone talking to me. And me being foolish enough to turn my head to answer while I kept on slicing... *shudder*
The actual cut didn't hurt to be honest. I just felt this 'zzzzippp'. The blade is so sharp that your body doesn't realise you've cut it until a few seconds later...
Anyway, I'll spare you the details.. hahahaha..0 -

Can anyone who makes crisps using a good processor help?
I have just got a kenwood chef prospero- does anyone else have this. I made dauphinoise potatoes the other day- would it be the same blade as this? Ir is there a thinner one? Sorry the manuals are pretty rubbinsh for it imo so would love some help if anyone has any for me:beer: Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
