Getting proper fed up with this site and all the problems it constantly has.
Ebay don't suffer the same....and that is used by millions of people..worldwide!!!
Getting so bored waiting for each page to load that I am having to minimise the screen and go off and look at something else.
I know its not my computer as all other sites are working perfectly.
C'mon Martin....sort it out!!!
Good lord, how arrogant are you?!
Ebay has the financial resources to put 1000s of techies to fixing a problem. This site is funded by affiliate links/donations.
Accept that sometimes, you might just have to wait.
Personally, I've made and saved so much money from this site I don't mind it being down for a while.
In fact, most people would expect to be charged for access to such an informative site. Please don't pm me asking to eat me because you are hungry.

Right.... as I've been nagging the techies all day... here's what I've been told so you now know as much as me.
We upgraded to a much more grunty, big, super-dooper server to handled the forum data-base. So it should all be smooth and quick. Yet the old smaller server was finely tuned to deal with it all - this new server isn't finely tuned, and the act of doing so takes time and trial and error.
Now trust me i've been shouting and swearing all day about this (I'm putting the weekly email together and sending it tomorrow, and so when the forum goes down its infuriating). Yet at the moment the techies here and at the server company are scratching their heads trying to find out what the bottle neck is and what tweaks will work.
So in summary
The power and servers are there - they're just not tuned right - that isn't a simple thing but everyone I've got and the server company has got is working at it!

You can of course access the Main Site and have a read of Martin's articles which might help save you some money in 2007

Well I would post there as well but then that would be spamming plus I can't get into that board
Anyway, good luck to all the Techie boys both on MSE and in ra bunker :T0 -
May I make a suggestion...
Its probably been mentioned before.. but hey oh.. here goes..
To try and speed up servers little maybe how about...
Disable Quote button..and quote facility altogether.. The number of recent elongated posts because of this are getting out of hand, especially when the whole post including Lengthy Signatures are included..
Stop the Lengthy Signatures, or set a limit on how many lines.. instead of downwards list.. two lines max.. horizontal.. or something like..
Disable the use of some smileys.. especially the larger ones..
And Do away with Avatars altogether.
I hope you manage to overcome the technical difficulties you have been experiencing soon, keep up the good work.. its appreciated as everBSC Member #97- Discharged 4/2/09
