Neighbour's van has blocked in our garage

The key to this will be handling it in a friendly way, starting from the assumption that the van driver means no harm and just doesn't realise the garage is in use. Which is probably true. I can only see this becoming a problem if you get his/her back up, which a note under the wiper is likely to do. Always best to keep the fingers off other people's property.
Start by clearing the garage so it looks obviously different and in use. Then knock on some doors, introduce yourself to all your neighbours, and when you identify the van driver, just explain the situation and ask nicely. If you can't find the van driver, put a note on your own garage door, like the one suggested above, adding a "please" and "thank you" and even a smiley face for good measure, if you're that way inclined0 -
I've had a similar issue only my garage has direct access off the road. End of terrace so people don't expect there to be a garage! There have been a few new neighbours lately and I found that knocking and letting them know there is a garage and it is used helps. I also asked them if they could let their visitors know too. Very annoying to come Home from work and can't get in my garage. Now pretty much everyone knows i use garage it's not been blocked in ages!
We have a sign saying in use but I don't think people pay attention! I could ask the council to paint a white line across the garage and dropped kerb but begrudge paying £70 for them to do it when I have a curtain twitcher to chase people!!0 -
I would try knocking on doors to find the owner of the van and use the opportunity to introduce yourself.
If it doesn't work I would leave a polite note explaining that you have tried to contact them by knocking on doors. I think you have been very patient in the circumstances!
The van shouldn't be blocking you in- could he be obstructing an emergency vehicle from getting to other houses?0 -

Had a note last week from the neighbours and what got me was they are the nosy types that always look out the curtains when I park - so they know I own the car and where I live, and know that I am in during the day. Yet snuck out 2 mins after I parked to leave the note. Really irritating! My neighbour once did that. My OH didn't see the note until he was on the motorway and it started raining. He nearly crashed the car due the obstruction of the paper.
So I left a note on my neighbour's car saying that windscreen wipers are a safety device, not a paperweight, and not to leave his litter on my car in future. My neighbour (not next door) is a bully and he didn't like it at all. He knocked on my door to try and confront me and was sent off with his tail between his legs.
Do you both live near me? You are describing the couple who live at the top of my road! My OH has had notes with 'fines' of £60 or £80 attached.0 -
I would agree with the door-knocking approach - it means that it is a problem that needs sorting right now ("I need to get my car out to get to work"), whereas a note makes it seem unimportant and more busybody.0

is there a dropped kerb where the track meets the road? if so and you have no joy finding the owner of the van then call the police.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Now that is disturbing!
What were the payment instructions?"One day I realised that when you are lying in your grave, it's no good saying, "I was too shy, too frightened."
Because by then you've blown your chances. That's it."0 -

It was a while back and I can't remember the exact wording. A fine of £80 and the police were both included though. We arn't the only ones on the road to have such 'fines'!
Needless to say, the couple arn't well liked. He is a member of the MG's owner club though so believing he owns the road should probably be expected...!0 -

I'm concerned you make that assumption of MG owner club members- I havent noticed my OH believes he owns the road!0 -
Don't MG owners own the side of the road? You know, for all the breakdowns?0
