My son had a Celtic away shirt bought for him for Xmas. He took it back to JJB today with all tags still intact because he wanted to change it to the home shirt. Being a Xmas present, he didn't have the receipt and, even though there were JJB tags all over it, they refused to exchange it!

Apparently, it's their "new policy" on football shirts. What's that all about?????
Even if you are a minority of one, the truth is the truth.

Some companies take advantage of the young.I suggest you take it back, and show it to the Manager. They are within their rights, but I suggest the staff have been told not to exchange without a receipt, rather than not to exchange football shirts, but I also knew of an instance where someone took a fake bottle of perfume back to a shop for a refund,so it may be because of the issues over fake merchandise.

    cant blame em can you.
If i had sold a celtic shirt home or away there is no way I would want it back.
I would be glad to be rid of it.

From working in retail it's common for items to be stolen then returned for a refund.

Yes they'll have retailers tags on, but only a receipt is proof of purchase.

although a receipt is the best form of proof of purchase,it is not the only one. Card statements, witnesses, stock lists etc can all be used.

and the OP is not asking for a refund (so its unlikely it would be thought it had been stolen)

Unfortunately exchanges are made on the goodwill of the store, there's no legal obligation to exchange, having said that, your statutory rights are still applicable, if there was poor stitching, split in seam etc anything that makes it faulty merchandise you should get a refund or exchange. From my experience in cases like that, because the item can be shown to have come from JJB, even in the absence of a receipt, a refund or exchange should be no problem.

Remember, exchanges or refunds are at the discretion of the store, its a goodwill gesture on their behalf. If they don't exchange or refund you are perfectly within your rights to draw this to the attention of every person you know and advise them of the lack of goodwill demonstrated in this particular JJB store....tell everyone you know.....

I had a similar problem towards the end of last year with the England home shirt.

Apprantely they do not refund football tops any more because there have been people buying tops from other cheaper retailers and returning them to JJB and this has been there new company policy. Anything other than football tops will be accepted for exchanges.

looks like if you want an exchange or refund then, the statutory rights route is the only way....did you notice any faulty stitching....
