Looking to go to Florida with a 8mth old and was wondering what type of accomodation you think would be best??
On resort (shallow pools??) In a Villa (peace and quiet)
Also what area would anyone suggest??
Thanks in advance

we went last year with our then 18 month old. TBH if you decide to stay at a resort from my experience the pools are kind of quiet (except disney hotels they seemed quite busy) as most people are out at the parks anyway. Could get a bit busier at night though. We stayed at kissime which is just outside Disney, set back enough it wasn't a Disney Fest if you will so not entirely in your face but not so long on the bus (hotel did free transfers at certain times of day).0

I have to say - WHY ?
If you are going for a holiday, an 8 month old will be an awful "dampener" on what you can do and where you can go.
If YOU are desperate to go now, leave the baby with relatives in the UK - if you are desperate to take him/her, wait until they are a bit older, when they too can enjoy it.0 -

Thanks a lot for your REALLY helpful reply.
There is a lot more to the story but didnt want to bore people and the other info isnt needed.
I was simply looking for advice on what type of accomodation would be best if people had any experience on taken babies to Florida0 -
the only thing i would have concerns about but i'm sure it has already crossed your mind is transport. Would you be hiring a car? Would you be going to Disney Universal etc or just want a bit of sunshine? We only went to disney and it's pretty flat. There are pram stations everywhere and most the rides are pretty child orientated and we had no troubles taking our 18 month old on most the rides, though i'm sure with an 8 month old their may be some you won't want to. There are buses to disney but from what i remember american buses are not like UK and have no designated buggy areas so it's a case of folding it up which for a cheap stroller is okay but a pram you'd be facing difficulties. There is a monorail between all the disney parks and you can take buggies on these. I seem to remember there was slopes up to them aswell as steps. You might want to think about baby wearing if you don't already, might be a good way to get around the transport thing. Invest in a good babyhawk or something

as said above though in answer to your original question, the hotel we stayed in was pretty quiet during the day as everyone was out at the parks so you probably wouldn't have too much trouble taking a little one in.0 -

Hi!
Yeah we have that one pretty much sorted. Basically we are staying in our parents Villa near Orlando but wanted to venture down South (to get away from the inlaws for a bit) either to near Miami or further to the Keys so didnt really know if to book in a hotel or rent a villa (at a lot more expense) We will be taking our pushchair with us and hiring a car. Thanks for the reply.

Dmbw~ do you have kids, what what a strange comment , telling someone to leave there children behind, this board does amaze me sometmes!
weve taken all of our as babies and we have 5, izzy went at nearly 1 and neraly 2,and she LOVED it.
Id be tempted to stay at a hotel appartment rather than rooms for the best of both worlds a bit more space and the hotel facilities, we stayed at the tradewinds at st petes on the beach and was lovely, the pools were soo quiet and right on the beach, sunset was beautiful.5 kids..1 hubby...1 dog..3 rabbits and a goldfish...yep ours is a Madhouse
:smileyhea We love Disney...
