I'm so sorry that you feel you have to go back to lurking, kittiesluck. Unfortunately - because of a small minority of bad posters - sometimes people jump to conclusions when you were only asking a genuine question. Obviously, on an open forum, there's no guarantee you won't be jumped upon, but I know that it feels very different when you're on the end of the rudeness, rather than just reading it as an observer.

I hope you manage to find somewhere to sell your bag. :)

kittiesluck - Try the Purse Forum as they have threads under the various designers where you can post photos for authentication. They should be able to help you there, I'd think.

Here you go - look for one of the stickies near the top which is for authentication: http://forum.purseblog.com/chloe-shopping/

I haven't been brutal nor have I been rude.

Merely pointing out that a thread named 'Chloe Paddington Handbag' will obviously arouse interest, a new member? somebody naive may contact them about buying it ? and they could be sold a rubbish fake. Ive seen this happen many times on forums, its classic textbook scam. I'm not accusing the OP of anything either, but to me its a bit obvious...

To put it very simply, if you received a paddington from somebody on benefits without a job, I'd question its authenticity, however if it was from a stockbroker - not so much.

and yes, authenticity cards etc do get faked, but the OP didnt state if they even had a dustbag or cards with it.
Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right

You may not feel you were brutal, but when you post a question which you yourself know is innocent and you are accused of being otherwise, then it certainly does feel brutal. It's very different when you're receiving the messages to when you're posting them.

Also, you distinguish between a stockbroker and someone on benefits as the gift-givers. Yes - in that case it could be obvious (although I know plenty of people on benefits with lots of expensive things on credit, but that's another story). But it's much more likely to be a friend or family member who could afford an expensive bag, but might not have, either. Also, the buyer themselves could have been scammed (as per my sister who thought she had bought me a Tiffany bracelet).

The OP didn't state whether there was a dustbag or not because she wasn't asking 'is this authentic'. She was asking 'where can I sell it?' She now has some answers, but - thanks to your presumptions of her motives - probably won't be posting here again.

I know you've probably seen it all before of people scamming others. We all have. But when you make that assumption with a genuine poster it *is* very upsetting to be on the end of it. It's not upsetting to you, or me, or most other people reading the thread. But being on the receiving end of your words (or anyone with similar comments) is a horrible experience, even if it is just on a forum.

  • Im sorry kittiesluck that you have had a bad experience on these boards. I believe your intentions were honest and I hope you find the answers you were looking for. I wish people would use these boards as they were intended and just respond with advice and be helpful not to make accusations. If you think someone is spamming -hit the report button and the site moderators will remove it (if necessary). There is no need to get on your high horse and scare people away.
