  • Is there any shop or anywhere who could say whether it's authentic?

Someone on here before has mentioned some forum? where the members are really into bags & they apparently can advise on whether one is a fake or not, so it may be worth searching through the posts about bags or hope that someone who knows what I'm talking about comes on.

How can you not know if its fake or not?
You must know if you bought it for a tenner or a grand?
I'm sorry I dont buy it, this spiel is usually spouted by people that know they have a fake and are playing dumb. are you hoping to get PMs from people asking how much? and can they buy it?
    Seen it all before.

  • Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

I have a chloe paddington handbag which i no longer want as it was a gift i cannot guarantee its authenticity - if it isn't genuine it is an exact replica. But, this means ebay is out of the question.

Is there any other way i could get any money for this bag at all?

    Thanks in advance
It was a gift, she didn't buy it!!!

I did read the first post.

You'd know if the person buying you a gift is in 'tenner bag territory' or 'thousand pound bag territory'. Unless you're a total numpty :/

Did it come in the 'Chloe' dustbag? With the authenticity card?

I wouldn't know. I'd have no idea. I'm not a numpty, far from it. But bags look exactly the same to me. I couldn't tell a £1000 bag from a £50 bag to be honest.

I also wouldn't know to look for an authenticity card, nor have any guarantee that it wasn't put in there from another bag - depending on where it was bought.

My sister bought me a 'Tiffany' bracelet for my birthday last year, and it was only when I went to sell it on Ebay (I don't do jewellery either) that I was told it wasn't Tiffany at all - despite it coming with an authentic box, the little bag thing, the cleaner and the official Tiffany leaflet. My sister had herself bought it from someone who had put a cheaper bracelet in all the official packaging. So the authenticity card guarantees nothing, either.

The OP is absolutely right to ask and to make sure she's not selling something wrongly.

I tend to agree, Op you must know if the person who gave you it would spend hundreds of pounds on a gift for you or not. I think you realise that they wouldn't, therefor bringing it's authenticity into question.
In this case I think it would be wrong to sell it to anyone else as a genuine bag.
  • Many thanks to everyone who gave me a polite reply. I think i will go back to being a lurker, as i have found the brutal reaction quite upsetting.
    Thanks again
