Exactly the same happened to us, the only 'deal' they actually offered was to downgrade to the £15 package like you said which is at the regular price. 3 days after christmas they did phone to offer us 'a deal' but it was so tripe I can't remember what it was - did post it on here on another thread, still hoping they may call again.

  • I downgraded from movies to standard channel package a few months back and they did nothing to entice me to stay - been with them about , ooo, 15 years.

Quite happy paying for the channels I watch :-)

Cancelled my sky in disgust. A relative has twice fell behind with payments its a case of can pay but wont. Twice now sky have phoned her up. First time wiped out 3 months at the full package price. 2nd time she was 3 months in arrears offered her 6 months half price if she paid half her bill. I call up to cancel after 3 years (full package)they ask why I tell them not happy about this and they say fine you will be disconnected in 30 days. They tell me how much I owe in the next direct debit. Rather than cancel the d/d I let them take the money. They take the full amount and not the amount as advised. My bank charge me. Sky say they will refund charges. Despite several telephone calls since 23 Dec I am still waiting on £45.00. Now I know where they get the money to pay other peoples bills.

Sorry about the long rant it just makes me so angry.

Sky don't seem to be doing any offers at the moment, they haven't been since before Christmas, even if you threaten to cancel. There's more info in this thread.

sorry, im failing to see why this is in the consumer vent board bit and not the 5 star awards board.

If im correct, You rung up sky and asked to cancel. they said ok. No problem.

if you wanted a special offer out of them why not ask them, can i keep what ive got and pay less please?

I did ring to canx, and got offered 25% off subscription for a year.

Accepted of course, but had told them i was going to NTL.

Also, do people generally know that the "free" sky box has 12 month guarantee, and that when it runs out sky charge £65 to come out? Luckily, mine broke after 11 months, so had it replaced with a brand new 12 month guarantee!

Have to agree with other posters.... seems like your complaint is really "I called to get a deal and didnt get an offer that was of interest to me".... seems like you didnt want to cancel at all.
