When is the best time to call for a deal?

I understand that calling for a PAC code is the best way to get a deal from a company, I tried this today, apart from that I actually was going to leave unless they gave me the same phone for the same price (three), but they said if I call back next week I will get it for cheaper as it is within the 38 days before the end of my contract and will get a better deal. Meanwhile I am worried that they won't keep their word (!) and that the other deal with Tesco I was going to go for will have expired..... so what is this magic 38 days that makes it cheaper, or is this a load of rubbish from them?

I thought it was 30 days...but please don't take that as correct.

You could call back and ask the advisor to read out what last entry is on your account, if she quotes what you were told, ask her if you can tape this or repeat it on hands free for your witness....they usually oblige when there is nothing to hide
  • They said it was normally 30 days, but special customer blah blah, would extend it to 38 days, which is next week. I contacted 3 on FB and they said that you can 'upgrade' up to 3 months before.... does it just get cheaper after 30/38 days?

30 days as a rule, but you should get an even better deal once you're out of contract completely.
