It's about the best place to buy one, not whether or not you should...I must be missing a trick here... From a moneysaving perspective, what are the benefits of a personalised numberplate?
Lower tax? better MPG? vehicle more reliable? No?? really?? just pure vanity?? I think I'll pass then..0 -
And a wee note to remember - every-time you replace your car and want the plate transferred - it costs and holds up all the paper work
Talk about the gift that keeps on giving - ours has cost an extra £400 quid in transfer fees so far
I had a personal plate for years. The 'trick' i used was i made the cost of the transfer the deal breaker when negotiating for my new car.
ie, say nothing about it until the very final stage of negotiations and until you've got their final best price and say 'i will do the deal if you pay for the reg transfer'.
That way the dealer pays for it.You need to be careful how the plate looks. If the letters are mis-spaced or altered you are very likely to get a £30 gift voucher from the police. The DVLNI are notified and if you get 2 tickets the DVLNI will contact you to say they will withdraw the plate from use and you will have lost your money if you ate caught for a third time. Plates are only loaned out by the registering authority even if you pay £1000's for it.
All good advice. From personal experience though the best way to buy a personalised plate is through the DVLA.0 -
just wondering does he spend much time around Belshaft...:rotfl:Saw an Aston Martin in Belfast today with the number plate LEWIS (I presume it was LEW 15). My first reaction was "nice car", followed by "Jesus, that plate ALONE probably cost 10 times more than my CAR!"
I don't think the car's owner would be a regular on here...0 -
