Thank you again! I will certainly be getting a new duvet in the next few days - yay!

Quick question for all you lovely people - we want to buy a kingsize bed next time round so don't want to buy just a double duvet (too expensive to do again!) but cannot afford new bed linen. Can you fit a kingsize duvet in a double case without it being awkward/overly lumpy?

You could ask on freecycle for kingsize covers for the time being? - I meann they likely wouldn't be the pattern you'd choose, but they'd do for now.

Just a thought - why not just use a flat sheet under the king sized duvet until you can afford a set of bedding? Then you don't have a big expense, and just need to wash the sheet for the time being

I am anxious to avoid the bed getting too hot as it is like sleeping next to a radiator when DH gets into bed. So I have avoided putting an old duvet on the mattress so far but really do need something for comfort underneath other than just a mattress protector. Any ideas?
  • Some great tips in here. Thanks :D

One of the best purchases we ever made was a fleece which fits our bed perfectly. The bed is so comfortable.

I used my DDs old cot blankets as mattress toppers.Just sewed thick elastic to each corner to keep them in place.

It's not too bad really, we've got a king size duvet and only use to have double duvet covers so just squished it in. When we got round to buying a new duvet cover we went for king size but we weren't in any rush really.
